Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. (hamstring) was universally drafted in the early rounds of fantasy drafts this season. His elite combination of rushing usage and receiving work made him a tantalizing option for fantasy managers, especially in PPR leagues. He had an ADP of RB8 in PPR for 2024.
Even in games he's played, he's disappointed massively. Rather than see the elite usage from a year ago, we've gradually seen him lose work to backup Tank Bigsby, who is likely the primary rusher moving forward. ETN hasn't received anything close to his old workload -- he has yet to have a game exceeding 13 carries.
He's been dealing with a hamstring injury for a while now, so has he healed up or will he miss his Week 9 game?

Is Travis Etienne Injured or Playing in Week 9?
ETN will be a game-time decision for the Jags this week. His hamstring clearly isn't fully healed, and it's possible he's used on a snap count and cedes more touches than usual to his backup RB Bigsby. Hamstring injuries tend to linger, and Bigsby has played very well, so fantasy managers should prepare for No. 1 to not be available.

It's possible that he does play, of course, but the situation isn't tantalizing for fantasy managers anyway. We likely won't know his final status until 90 minutes before kickoff, which is at 4:05 PM ET.
Travis Etienne Fantasy Football Injury Outlook
If he doesn't play, The Tank will be the primary beneficiary. He saw a slight uptick in pass-game work in Week 8, which is a good sign for his future prospects as a three-down back. He hadn't been involved as a receiver much in his career to this point. His upside could be even higher, and he's already a must-start when ETN can't go.
If Etienne is limited, it might not be much different than if he was out. He could step into D'Ernest Johnson's passing down role or even split passing down snaps with Bigsby. Etienne's future is a bit ugly at this point. He seems destined to lose work because his backup has just been too good.
I would like to formally apologize for making fun of Tank Bigsby for having the nickname Tank at just 210 pounds.
