The Jacksonville Jaguars entered training camp with a hole at the RB2 spot. 2021 first-round pick Travis Etienne was the definitive top-man in the backfield, but his backup job was up for grabs.
The team signed Browns RB D’Ernest Johnson to potentially fill this void but also drafted Tank Bigsby to compete. It was ultimately the latter that won the job with some impressive days in training camp.
Bigsby has been used in spot-action this year, scoring a couple of touchdowns. Has he done enough to merit a waiver wire pickup?

What Did Tank Bigsby Do In Week 3?
Tank Bisgby was drafted this past April out of the University of Auburn. Seen as a versatile runner with a prototypical NFL-ready frame at 6’0”, 210 pounds, Bigsby nabbed the backup job right out from under the aforementioned Johnson who had some big games last year.
The rookie punched in a one-yard touchdown early in the third quarter on Sunday, giving him his second score in only two games.
The 2023 third-round pick only had two carries in the contest, but it was highly encouraging to see the Jaguars trust him with key goal-line duties.
Were There Any Worrying Signs With Tank Bigsby In Week 3?
While Bigsby definitely fits the bill of a sure-fire NFL starter one day, he’s squarely behind Etienne in the backfield and the snap counts reflect that. He has scored two touchdowns through three games already, which is more than Etienne, but take a look at his snap percentages through the first three weeks.
Week 1: 15 snaps (21%)
Week 2: 13 snaps (19%)
Week 3: 9 snaps (12%)
The amount of on-field action Bigsby sees is declining each week, which is not a good sign for his fantasy prospects. The presumed RB3 in Johnson has actually seen his snap percentage increase in that same time span (1% -> 9% -> 16%).
Should I Pickup Tank Bigsby Off the Waiver Wire in Fantasy Football?
In redraft leagues, Bigsby doesn’t seem like a worthwhile pickup at this point in the season. If Etienne were to suffer an injury that would completely change, but with the significantly low snap percentages you aren’t getting any real value out of the rookie. He’s the definition of touchdown-dependent based on his usage. Unless you are an Etienne owner and want a handcuff, I wouldn't spend a bench spot on Bigsby now. There are better options out there.
