Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson was a big-time fantasy scorer after being traded from the Detroit Lions last season -- ultimately finishing as the TE2 behind Travis Kelce in PPR leagues. Heading into 2023, he is expected to contend for a top-three spot at the position once again.
However, he has missed plenty of practice time this offseason with injuries, sicknesses, and contract disputes. We have the latest update.
Is Hockenson injured or healthy? What is his 2023 fantasy football outlook? Let's dive in.

T.J. Hockenson Injury Update
Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson (back), who has been dealing with an ear infection during training camp, missed most of practice on Wednesday with lower back stiffness.
Hockenson's ear infection has gotten better, but now he's dealing with a back injury that has him listed as day-to-day. It's also worth noting the two sides are seemingly far apart in contract negotiations, so that could be playing a factor in his limited participation.
"We're at that time," head coach Kevin O'Connell said, "where we just want to be smart with guys we know we're going to be relying on and make sure that their preparation for [the regular season] is what we want."
T.J. Hockenson 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
As long as the 26-year-old is ready to roll for Week 1 of the regular season, fantasy managers should consider him a top-five tight end in Minnesota's pass-happy offense. Last season, Hockenson scored the most fantasy points in a single game among tight ends with 39.9 PPR points. He also had a 35.9-point performance.
That said, he has one of the highest boom-week ceilings at the position and should be right in the conversation with George Kittle and Mark Andrews to be considered the best fantasy tight end not named Travis Kelce.
Hockenson and rookie Jordan Addison should have plenty of target opportunities behind Justin Jefferson.
