New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has had an outstanding 2022 season. The former Penn State star is the RB6 for the year, averaging 16.6 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
He has accounted for 86.7% of all the rushing yards by the team’s running backs this season. Furthermore, Barkley has accounted for 32.7% of the team’s offensive scrimmage yards this year, totaling 1,296 yards in 12 games.
Unfortunately, the superstar running back has dealt with injuries in his career. He hasn’t missed a game this year. However, that might change come Sunday.

Is Saquon Barkley Playing In Week 14?
Barkley was a limited participant in practice on Thursday and Friday with a neck injury. He is listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup against the NFC East-leading Philadelphia Eagles.
The Giants will consider Barkley’s past health issues when deciding his status for Sunday. However, fantasy players should be cautiously optimistic. The superstar running back has practiced the past two days and appears normal during the open portion to the media.
However, should fantasy players pickup and start Matt Breida if Barkley can’t play?
Should I Pickup And Start Matt Breida For Fantasy Football?
The short answer to this question is no. Breida has averaged only 3.6 touches and 2.5 fantasy points per game this season. If Barkley can’t play, Breida would split time in the backfield with Gary Brightwell.
More importantly, the Philadelphia run defense is one of the best units in the NFL. In the four weeks the rookie Jordan Davis was out, the Eagles surrendered 120.8 rushing yards per game to running backs. By comparison, they have held running backs to only 81.4 rushing yards per game in the eight games the rookie has played.
Furthermore, Philadelphia has given up fewer than 90 rushing yards in all but two games with Davis active (83.3%). Last week, they held Derrick Henry to only 30 yards on 11 rushing attempts.
Instead, fantasy players should add James Cook off the waiver wire. The Buffalo Bills running back is available in over 50% of ESPN leagues.
The rookie has started to earn more of a role lately. Last week, Cook had 20 touches for 110 scrimmage yards in the win over the New England Patriots. His 110 scrimmage yards led the team.
More importantly, he has a solid matchup against the New York Jets in Week 14. The Jets have given up 101.3 rushing yards and 21.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game to running backs over the past three weeks.
