If you want to succeed in fantasy football, you need to have one stud running back leading your team. That also means that 99% of the time, that player needs to be an RB1 on his NFL squad.
The Chicago Bears have not yet named their starter for Week 1 in September, and there are some questions as to who that guy might be. Lucky for them, they have time, and some solid options.
Who will be the Bears RB1 for the 2023 season? Will it be Roschon Johnson, Khalil Herbert, or D'Onta Foreman? Let's take a closer look.

Who Is The Bears RB1 For The 2023 Season?
Many NFL franchises have their starting running backs already locked and loaded for the upcoming season. Derrick Henry in Tennessee, Kenneth Walker in Seattle, Christian McCaffrey in San Francisco, and Nick Chubb in Cleveland to name a few.
The Bears have what appears to be three favorites for the job this year, and their names are Johnson, Herbert, and Foreman. Which one will grab the headlines and become the lead horse? There are different skill sets that each of the three posses, and a case could be made that all three should be the starter. Fantasy managers certainly will have their favorites, but a choice must be made by both the team, and owners drafting this fall.
Which Bears RB Will Be The Best Fantasy Football Player To Draft In 2023?
Here are the facts. Herbert is the exciting, fast-paced back who can dazzle you with his speed and playmaking abilities. Foreman is the power back who can run right through tackles and push his way into the end zone. Finally, there is Johnson, the fourth-round rookie who has impressed in camp, but there is no way to know if he will perform if given the chance come September.
Fantasy managers need to choose which one will produce on the stat sheet for them, not just look pretty or tough on the NFL gridiron. So which of the three offers the most value as a true potential RB1 in 2023?
In this humble writer's opinion, this is how I see it playing out. Foreman will lead the carries in Week 1, Herbert will still see playing time and dazzle when given his opportunities, and Johnson won't be active. As the season progresses, Foreman will gradually move to a backup role, and the 25-year-old Herbert will develop into a bonified stud, and become the RB1 for a Chicago offense that will lean on him heavily for the majority of 2023.
