There is an old saying that when one door closes, another opens.
Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams suffered an ankle injury during Week 6, opening the door for backup Ronnie Rivers. Unfortunately for Rivers, his door quickly closed too.
The undrafted running back suffered an injury just a few plays later, leaving the Rams with a hole atop their depth chart.

Ronnie Rivers Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Shortly after the Rams lost Williams, Rivers suffered a Grade 3 PCL sprain in his knee. That's going to sideline him for several weeks and injured reserve is a likely option.
Rivers only logged carries in three games (Weeks 4-6), coinciding with the trade of Cam Akers and the coaching staff realizing that Kyren Williams couldn't handle every single carry. He's totaled 75 yards on 17 touches this season.
Ronnie Rivers Fantasy Football Outlook
For those fantasy managers who stashed Rivers in case Williams suffered an injury, that's just some bad luck. The idea that Williams would wear down handling every backfield touch was logical. Rivers getting hurt himself was unfortunate timing.
There's no reason to roster Rivers now that he'll miss several weeks. Williams will likely miss at least one game, opening the door for sixth-round rookie Zach Evans or veteran journeyman Royce Freeman. Evans is projected to get the first crack at the gig. He's a former five-star recruit who split his college career at TCU and Ole Miss.
Evans not winning the job over Rivers during training camp is concerning. Coaches seem to have some hesitation in using Evans in game situations. Expect Evans and Freeman (who will be activated from the practice squad) to split the work. Keep an eye on the transaction logs to see if the Rams add another body to the backfield.
