Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs running back Ronald Jones has reached an agreement to join the Dallas Cowboys in 2023. Jones had a semi-productive career in Tampa Bay before Leonard Fournette came to town and took the primary back role, so he could have some more juice left for fantasy football production.
Jones had a quiet 2022 in Kansas City, but at least he didn't get banged up and should be fresh as he heads to Dallas.
How did Jones' 2022 season go and how does he fit in Dallas? Let's dive in.

Ronald Jones 2022 Season Review
Jones spent most of the 2022 season as a healthy scratch, so he appeared in just five games. He was beaten out by Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Isiah Pacheco, and Jerick McKinnon, and only became an active member of the roster when Edwards-Helaire was placed on the injured reserve list.
Ultimately, he rushed just 17 times for 71 yards and one touchdown, adding one reception for 22 yards.
Jones has been more of a one-dimensional, between-the-tackles rusher -- which could be a nice compliment to the versatile emerging star Tony Pollard.
Ronald Jones 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
While Jones was likely brought in to help replace Ezekiel Elliott as the short-yardage back, there's a low chance he gets a role as significant as Zeke had in 2022. Malik Davis is still on the roster, and the Cowboys could look to add to its running back room in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The offseason will need to play out before we have a concrete outlook for Jones, but his best-case scenario would be in the red zone and goal line role. The Cowboys' offense should continue to flourish in 2023, so there should be plenty of touchdowns to go around.
That said, he could end up in the same situation as he did in Kansas City as a healthy inactive on game days and a mere end-of-the-depth-chart piece. For now, he should be viewed as a late-round flyer in early 2023 fantasy drafts and nothing more.
