Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle has developed into a nice complement to Tony Pollard this season. The 25-year-old went undrafted in 2020 and has spent his entire career with Dallas, but he rushed just seven times for 24 yards through his first three seasons.
With Ezekiel Elliott gone, he was elevated to the No. 2 running back role after beating out Malik Davis. However, he is in the injury headlines heading into Week 13.
Is Dowdle injured or healthy? Will he play against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football? Let's dive in.

Rico Dowdle Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Dowdle (ankle) remains on the team's Week 13 injury report as they prepare for another Thursday night game versus the Seattle Seahawks. Dowdle was listed as a limited participant in Monday's practice. He was on last week's practice report as well but played in the Thanksgiving win over the Washington Commanders, handling just three carries for 11 yards and one catch for 15 yards and a touchdown on only nine offensive snaps.
The 25-year-old is likely to play this Thursday against Seattle, but he'll likely continue to have a limited role in the backfield as the primary backup to Tony Pollard
Rico Dowdle Fantasy Football Outlook
Although only deep-league fantasy managers should consider starting Dowdle as a desperation flex option, fantasy managers in 12-team leagues should consider picking him up. He is one of the highest-upside running back handcuff stashes attached to an explosive Dallas offense.
If Pollard misses a game or two down the stretch, Dowdle would become an immediate must-start in leagues of all shapes and sizes. At this point in the season, it's better to roster high-end RB handcuffs rather than fringe starting wide receivers.
For now, Dowdle has a touchdown-or-bust outlook every week.
