New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed had a solid start to his NFL career last season considering he was an undrafted free agent rookie. The Weber State product caught 28 of his 34 targets for 488 yards and two touchdowns in his debut campaign. His 17.4 yards per reception would've ranked in the top five among all wideouts, but he didn't catch enough passes to qualify.
Unfortunately, Shaheed is in the injury headlines as training camp moves along. We have his latest update.
Is Shaheed healthy or injured and what is his 2023 fantasy football outlook? Let's get into it.

Rashid Rasheed Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Shaheed (groin) didn't practice at training camp on Monday and is expected to miss a few weeks, according to a source. Shaheed should still be ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season, but he could miss all of preseason action. When healthy, he's expected to be the team's starting slot receiver after posting 33 catches for 484 yards and two touchdowns in 2022. Tre'Quan Smith is also battling a groin injury at camp, so the Saints are short some receivers this week.
Shaheed should be able to put up better numbers in his sophomore campaign with quarterback Derek Carr running the offense.
Rashid Shaheed 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
While Shaheed is an exciting deep ball wideout, there's a low chance he sees consistent target volume in his second NFL season. Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, and Juwan Johnson could all edge him out in targets.
However, he makes for an interesting late-round option in best ball formats due to his spike-week ability. At his current 166.4 Underdog ADP, he's worth consideration as a dart throw in the 14th or 15th round. If Thomas gets injured again or New Orleans needs a spark in the explosive play category, he could see increased usage.
Obviously, this all depends on whether or not he can get fully healthy for the 2023 campaign.
