New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed went undrafted during the 2022 NFL Draft. Shaheed had a productive college career, totaling 147 receptions for 2,178 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in five years at Weber State.
More importantly, the undrafted free-agent wide receiver had a solid rookie season, totaling 28 receptions on 34 targets for 488 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The young wide receiver also had four rushing attempts for 57 yards and a touchdown in 2022.
Unfortunately, Michael Thomas suffered a knee injury a few weeks ago that landed him on injured reserve. Therefore, Shaheed has massive upside until the veteran returns. Yet, fantasy players didn’t see that potential on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Rashid Shaheed Injury Update For Fantasy Football
The second-year wide receiver had two receptions on five targets for nine receiving yards and 1.9 half-point PPR fantasy points on Sunday. However, he left the game after playing only 26% of the snaps because of a thigh injury.
Thankfully, the team doesn’t believe the injury is severe. However, Shaheed’s Week 13 status is up in the air.
Rashid Shaheed Fantasy Football Outlook
Despite playing on an inconsistent New Orleans offense, the second-year wide receiver has been productive for fantasy players. He is the WR40 for the year, averaging 8.7 fantasy points per game. Shaheed has 33 receptions on 55 targets for 534 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The young wide receiver also had six rushing attempts for 33 yards this season.
More importantly, he has been the team’s best wide receiver, not named Chris Olave. According to Fantasy Points Data, Shaheed ranks second in air yards share (21.8%), third in target per route run rate (18%), second in receiving yards market share (18.9%), second in yards per route run (1.73), and first in yards after the catch per reception (4.52) among the team’s wide receivers.
Hopefully, the second-year wide receiver can play Sunday against the Detroit Lions. The NFC North division leaders have an elite run defense. However, their pass defense has struggled. They have given up 30.9 fantasy points per game to wide receivers this year, the sixth-most in the NFL.
Furthermore, Detroit has surrendered 16 receptions for 203.7 receiving yards, 2.3 touchdowns, and 42.2 fantasy points per game since their bye week. If Shaheed can play Sunday, he has top-20 upside.
