The New Orleans Saints have yet to find consistency this season, starting 2023 off with a 3-3 record. After acquiring Derek Carr in the offseason, many expected this team to take the NFC South relatively handily.
So far, that has not been the case, as they sit tied for second in the division due to offensive struggles.
However, second-year receiver Rashid Shaheed has provided a spark to this team that is still trying to find its footing.

What Has Rashid Shaheed Done So Far?
In the Saints' season opener, Rashid Shaheed burst onto the scene with five catches for 89 yards and a score in a narrow win over the Tennessee Titans. Despite Derek Carr's struggles this season, Shaheed has proven himself to be a reliable option in the passing game.
After six weeks, Shaheed has accounted for 16 receptions, 298 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. Most recently, Shaheed caught two passes for 85 yards and a touchdown in a loss versus the Houston Texans.

Shaheed's big-play ability has brought him into fantasy relevance so far this season, including two top-12 wide receiver finishes in PPR formats.
Have There Been Any Worrying Signs With Rashid Shaheed?
Much like this Saints team as a whole, the main concern regarding Shaheed's fantasy value has been consistency.
In terms of usage, Shaheed's snap percentage has jumped from as low as 49% to as high as 76%. Along with this, he has seen less than a 15% target share in four out of six games this season.
When he sees enough volume, he has been able to perform well in fantasy. When he does not, he becomes too reliant on chunk plays and touchdowns to be a fantasy contributor that owners can trust to put in their lineups each week.
Should I Pickup Rashid Shaheed Off the Waiver Wire in Fantasy Football?
So far this season, Rashid Shaheed has been one of the most entertaining receivers to watch in the NFL.

At this point, it seems evident that he has the talent to continue making amazing plays that alter the outcome of games. However, it is still too soon for Shaheed to be a consistent fantasy starter.
Is he a good waiver wire option this week? Because of the playmaking upside that he possesses, he still is a solid option to pick up this week. Should any injuries happen to the Saints' receiving core, Shaheed could step up in a very major way.
