Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is one of the NFL’s brightest emerging stars. The former SMU wide receiver was outstanding to end his rookie year.
While some off-the-field trouble impacted Rice’s fantasy football outlook heading into the 2024 season, Rice has been outstanding over the first month. He was the WR4 over the first three weeks, averaging 17.6 half-point PPR fantasy points per game, totaling 13.8 or more in every contest.
Unfortunately, the star receiver suffered a knee injury early in the Week 4 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Patrick Mahomes ran into Rice’s knee while trying to make a tackle after throwing an interception.

Is Rashee Rice Hurt Or Healthy?
Rice left the game on a cart and was quickly ruled out. Unfortunately, those signs are never good news for fantasy players. Reportedly, the Chiefs fear that the star wide receiver suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s win, ending his season. While he will have an MRI today to confirm the initial diagnosis, fantasy players shouldn’t expect Rice to play again this year.

Waiver Wire Replacement Options For Rashee Rice
Fantasy players won’t find a suitable replacement for Rice and his 17.6 fantasy points per game average on the waiver wire. However, Xavier Legette offers fantasy players potentially significant upside for the rest of the season. The rookie wide receiver is rostered in only 14% of Yahoo leagues.
Yesterday, he had six receptions on 10 targets for 66 receiving yards and 16.6 fantasy points in the Carolina Panthers’ first game without Adam Thielen this year. The rookie had his first career touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals, earning a critical end zone target from Andy Dalton.

Legette should continue to see meaningful snaps and targets with Thielen out of the lineup. More importantly, the Panthers’ passing attack has become fantasy-friendly since making the change at the quarterback position. The rookie receiver won’t be a top-10 guy this season. However, he could provide fantasy players with low-end WR2 production.
