The Miami Dolphins signed running back Raheem Mostert during the offseason to bolster their backfield and add more speed. He also has familiarity with head coach Mike McDaniels and the system he runs.
Most believed Chase Edmonds would operate as the lead back, however, Mostert has been progressively taking over the starting job, increasing his offensive snap percentage each week.
Just as we were starting to feel comfortable playing Mostert as a top-24 back, he popped up on the injury report and missed practice on Wednesday. The update leaves fantasy managers wondering if Mostert will play this week, and if so, should they start him? Let's dive in.

Is Raheem Mostert Playing In Week 6 Against the Vikings?
As mentioned above, Mostert was added to the injury report and missed practice on Wednesday. Obviously, you never want to see a player added to the injury report but given that Mostert is a 30-year-old veteran, coming off his biggest workload of the season, it's easy to understand why the team would want to give him some additional rest.
He was able to return to practice on Thursday in a limited fashion, expressing a vote of confidence on his status for Sunday's game.
He followed that up with a limited practice on Friday, which for the reasons just outlined, makes sense. He's simply too valuable for the team to risk him aggravating the injury during practice.
Ultimately, he has been listed as questionable against the Vikings. The back-to-back limited practices, combined with his statement on Thursday, are enough for us to expect him to suit up on Sunday. There will be a final report prior to kickoff, but fantasy managers are safe to assume he'll be available to put in their lineups.
Should I Start Raheem Mostert On Sunday?
Having established that he will be an option for you, the next question is, should you start him?
In Week 5, he was a true workhorse back.
There was a comment made by the offensive coordinator this week about Edmonds being more involved.
It's fair to be cautious about anointing Mostert as a workhorse back just yet, but he'll still receive the bulk of the work against the Vikings, whose defense ranks 23rd against the run in DVOA. It's also likely that they lean on their rushing attack again because rookie Skylar Thompson will be making his first NFL start.
Thus, you can safely start Mostert as a top-24 back this week.
