In 2012, the San Antonio Spurs rested a 36-year-old Tim Duncan for a meaningless regular season game against a subpar Philadelphia 76ers team. Resting wasn't unusual at that point in Duncan's career, but the reasoning listed on the box score was.
Coach Gregg Popovich poked some fun at his All-NBA forward by calling him old. That's sort of what we're seeing right now with Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert but without the insult. Mostert, like many other veteran players across the league, took a Wednesday practice off for rest.

Raheem Mostert's Outlook For Week 2
With the absence of Jeff Wilson Jr. (finger, rib) and De'Von Achane (healthy scratch) in Week 1, Mostert carried the load for the Dolphins. The veteran played over 73% of the snaps. The remaining portion went to fourth-year pro Salvon Ahmed.
For his part, Mostert rushed the ball ten times for 37 yards and a touchdown. The 31-year-old also snagged a pair of passes for 13 yards. Those opportunities aren't quite where fantasy managers would like them. Tua Tagovailoa (466 passing yards) and Tyreek Hill (215 receiving yards) couldn't be contained so the Dolphins kept to the aerial attack.
The Dolphins passed the ball on nearly 70% of their plays in their season opener against the Chargers. That was largely by choice and not game script. Neither team was ever up by more than one score throughout the game. The New England Patriots defense held Philadelphia, a team known for its rushing attack, to 3.88 yards per carry in Week 1. Mostert may struggle once again with opportunities and space to cut upfield.
He will get a bulk of the work out of the backfield but expect the Dolphins to continue to lean on the passing game. Mostert is considered a low-end RB2 in Week 2.
