Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is on the verge of competing in his fifth AFC Championship game at just 27- years-old, but he suffered a lower-body injury in last week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This could complicate things for the Chiefs and the MVP front-runner signal-caller.
Mahomes is inarguably one of the most important players in the NFL and has a massive impact on postseason fantasy leagues or DFS contests, so needless to say, his availability for Sunday's AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals is a huge development.

Patrick Mahomes Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters on Monday that Mahomes (ankle) "worked hard on the treatment and is doing OK" after suffering a high-ankle sprain in the Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday.
When asked about Mahomes' status for the AFC Championship against the Cincinnati Bengals, Reid said he's "gonna play" and that this isn't as serious as the ankle injury Mahomes suffered in 2019. It's unknown if the 27-year-old will practice on Wednesday, but we wouldn't be surprised if he does very little in the leadup-to Sunday's big game.
Patrick Mahomes AFC Championship Fantasy Football Outlook
At $7,600 on DraftKings, Mahomes is the most expensive of the four starting quarterbacks for Sunday's conference title action. Since his high-ankle sprain is almost certainly going to affect his mobility, it's a little worrisome to pay up for him in this spot. The Bengals have allowed the fifth-fewest DraftKings points to quarterbacks this season and just shut down Josh Allen.
Like Buffalo, Kansas City doesn't have a plethora of high-end pass-catchers. In Week 13 against the Bengals, Travis Kelce was held to just four receptions for 56 yards. Ultimately, Cincinnati has proven to be a tough matchup for Kansas City as they beat them three times in 2022.
All things considered, a banged-up Mahomes might be the worst value among QBs on this slate. Jalen Hurts ($7,200), Joe Burrow ($6,800), and Brock Purdy ($5,300) all have more "price-adjusted upside." All that said, it's always tough to count out Mahomes, so if you want to roll the dice with him in your DFS lineups, it's hard to blame you.
