Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth has had a productive start to his NFL career, catching 123 passes for 1,229 yards and nine touchdowns in two seasons. His touchdown upside took a dip under rookie QB Kenny Pickett last season, but the Steelers offense looks to be on the way up heading into 2023.
Freiermuth is firmly on the fantasy football radar, but he suffered a knee injury in the team's 2022 season finale and we have his latest injury update.
Is Freiermuth healthy or injured and what is his 2023 fantasy football outlook? Let's get into it.

Pat Freiermuth Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Freiermuth (knee) has been practicing in OTAs without any issues. That's great news after the 24-year-old suffered a sprained MCL during last season's regular season finale and it doesn't look like this is an issue that is going to cost Freiermuth any time this season.
As always, things can change quickly and setbacks happen, so we'll continue to monitor his health as the offseason progresses.
Pat Freiermuth 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
Freiermuth isn't a spectacular athlete with an abundance of YAC upside, but he's been a steady presence in the Steelers' offense during his first two seasons in the league and should be again in 2023.
Diontae Johnson and George Pickens form a solid WR duo, but beyond those two, the pass-catching options are weak. Allen Robinson looks to be way past his prime, while Calvin Austin and Miles Boykin don't figure to be big factors in the target pecking order. That said, Freiermuth should say as a top-three option for Pickett in 2023.
With Pickett entering his second season, the Steelers, who ranked 20th in the NFL with a 54.9% pass rate, should open up the passing attack next season. Freiermuth's skill set sets him up to be a better PPR league option. He's proven to command targets and volume and be a red zone threat, but he isn't an elite big-play who will produce earth-shattering yardage in all likelihood. He's being selected as a low-end TE1 in early fantasy drafts, which is where we should expect him to finish this season. If Pittsburgh exceeds expectations offensively and he scores upwards of eight touchdowns, he could post a top-five season among tight ends.
