Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams entered the year with a lot of excitement after flashing his upside in 2021. There were also discussions about whether he could overtake his teammate, Keenan Allen, to become the No. 1 option for this offense.
After Allen exited their Week 1 contest, Williams put together four awesome performances over the next six weeks, totaling 35 receptions for 489 yards and three touchdowns before suffering an ankle injury. After missing three weeks, he made his return against the Chiefs on Sunday night.
Unfortunately, he re-aggravated his ankle early in that game against Kansas City, leaving fantasy managers wondering about his status. Is Williams healthy or injured? Let's dive in.

Mike Williams Injury Updates for Fantasy Football
As mentioned above, Williams made an impressive catch but came down hard on his ankle. He limped off the field, being described as questionable to return. However, shortly after that, we received the update below.
It was a massive blow to all the fantasy managers that decided to start him and hope for a big day against a vulnerable Chiefs passing defense. He finished with only that one catch for 15 yards.
Mike Williams Injury News
Further exasperating the situation was the update that came through on Monday evening, confirming the fear of re-aggravation.
The fact that head coach Brandon Staley described it as not being considered "a significant re-injury" does provide optimism about his chances to return to the field. The hope is that the team decided to play it safe and hold him out for the remainder of the game to increase his likelihood of suiting up down the stretch.
Is Mike Williams Playing in Week 12?
Fantasy managers will need to monitor news and practice reports, but as of this moment, Williams will most likely be inactive for Week 12. The team would greatly benefit from having him back on the field but also has aspirations to make the playoffs, so they'll need to balance those two desires when assessing the situation.
Even if Williams were to play against the Cardinals on Sunday, he would be a risky player to start, knowing that he could be forced to leave the game at any point because of the injury.
