Former New York Jets quarterback Mike White has signed with the divisional rival Miami Dolphins. White has filled in for an injured or benched Zach Wilson on multiple occasions over the last two seasons, and with the Jets eyeing Aaron Rodgers, White wasn't retained by the team.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins are led by Tua Tagovailoa, who has had more than his fair share of injury woes in his first three NFL seasons. White is now just one injury away from throwing to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
How did White play in 2022 and is he a good fit with Miami? Let's dive in.

Mike White 2022 Season Review
White has flashed upside in his eight games played for New York over the last two seasons but ultimately has thrown for just 2,145 yards, eight touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Still, he is viewed as a top-tier backup in the NFL and this gives Miami some insurance on the often-injured Tagovailoa.
Miami targeted Jacoby Brissett in 2021 and Teddy Bridgewater in 2022, so they clearly find importance in investing in high-upside backup QBs. Since Tagovailoa has missed eight games over the last two seasons, this becomes even more important.
Is White a Good Fit for Miami?
The 27-year-old quarterback has proven to be able to keep an offense afloat, so it seems like a great fit for Miami on the surface. While the team just picked up Tagovailoa's fifth-year option and hopes he'll finally be able to stay healthy, they trust White to play if his number is called. Miami is expected to be a contender in 2023, so having White on the roster gives them a chance to win at least a game or two if Tagovailoa is out.
With Hill and Waddle at wideout, White's upside is in the mid-tier QB2 to low-end QB1 range if he's called to action. He is worth stashing in Superflex and two-QB leagues with plenty of roster spots.
If he starts just two or three games in 2023, he'll be worth the roster spot as a bye-week fill-in or short-term streamer.
