Veteran wide receiver Michael Thomas was the 47th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. He had a productive college career, totaling 113 receptions for 1,602 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns in three years at Ohio State.
While many rookies have a quiet first season in the NFL, Thomas was outstanding right away. He had 92 receptions on 121 targets for 1,137 receiving yards and nine touchdowns as a rookie. The former Ohio State star was one of the top wide receivers in the league over the next few years. He led the NFL in receptions in 2018 and 2019.
Unfortunately, Thomas has struggled with injuries the past few seasons. He has missed 70.2% of the games over the past four years, including the entire 2021 season with an ankle injury. After averaging eight receiving touchdowns per year over the first four seasons of his career, the veteran has had only four over the past four years.

Is Michael Thomas Still A Free Agent?
Thomas was once arguably the top wide receiver in the NFL. Unfortunately, injuries have derailed his career, leading to the Saints releasing the veteran earlier this offseason. While some fans thought Thomas could quickly receive a new offer from another team, it has been a quiet offseason for the wide receiver. He remains a free agent heading into training camp.

Which Team Could Sign Michael Thomas?
NFL teams are concerned that Thomas has nothing left in the tank. The veteran played 10 games last season, totaling only 39 receptions on 64 targets for 448 receiving yards and a touchdown, setting a career-low in receiving yards per game (44.8). However, the Dallas Cowboys have reportedly explored the possibility of signing Thomas.

The Cowboys released Michael Gallup earlier this offseason, leaving them with an inexperienced wide receiver core behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. While Thomas likely won’t stay healthy long enough to be fantasy-relevant, the veteran would be a solid fantasy fit in Dallas.
