Will Michael Pittman Jr. Play In Week 1?
As per Michael Pittman Jr. himself, his hip injury has healed, and the only reason he isn't practicing in training camp is because the franchise doesn't want to rush him back. They are taking care of their best receiver, and with how things currently stand, he will be available to play in the season opener.
The Colts have a new quarterback in Anthony Richardson, and excitement levels are through the roof. The franchise is coming off a very disappointing season with Matt Ryan, and they hope that Richardson will become a star in the NFL.
As for their offense, Pittman Jr. will be massively helped by the return of Jonathan Taylor, and the franchise is likely to receive valuable contributions from rookie WR Josh Downs as well as Alec Pierce and Isaiah McKenzie.
Michael Pittman Jr. is Not Bothered By Pending Contract Extension
Pittman Jr. was the 34th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft and will be an unrestricted free agent after this season. The franchise is actively looking to offer him a contract extension, but the Southern California product is currently more focused on football.
Last season, he had 99 receptions for 995 yards while scoring four touchdowns in 16 games. His production was marginally lower than in 2021, but subpar quarterback play contributed to this. It will be intriguing to see how Richardson performs as their quarterback, as Pittman Jr.'s productivity will likely depend on his performance.
