Veteran running back Melvin Gordon was the 15th overall pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2015 NFL Draft. Gordon had an outstanding college career at Wisconsin, totaling 631 rushing attempts for 4,915 yards and 45 touchdowns, including 29 in his final year in school.
More importantly, the former Badger struggled as a rookie. Gordon had 184 rushing attempts for 641 yards but zero touchdowns. Thankfully, that changed the following year, totaling 257 rushing attempts for 997 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games.
Gordon had an excellent five years with the Chargers, totaling 1,059 rushing attempts for 4,240 yards and 36 touchdowns. However, his time with the team ended after the 2019 season. The veteran spent the next 2.5 years with the Denver Broncos.

Is Melvin Gordon A Free Agent?
Last year, the former Wisconsin star played 10 games with the Broncos. However, he got cut from the team over fumbling issues. Gordon finished the year on the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad but never saw game action.
The veteran running back signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens earlier this offseason. Baltimore needed running back help with J.K. Dobbins starting training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
However, the Ravens released the former Wisconsin star running back earlier today. Gordon is now a free agent and can sign with any team.
Which Teams Would Be A Good Fit?
Unfortunately, the veteran running back’s best days are behind him. Yet, Gordon was still impactful last season. He had 90 rushing attempts for 318 yards and two touchdowns with the Broncos.
The former Wisconsin star will likely find a new home over the next week. Several teams could use a veteran running back, including the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, and New York Giants.
Gordon would be a welcomed addition to all three teams. They have their star running back in place but lack a quality No. 2 option. However, the most fantasy-friendly landing spot would be the Cowboys after they lost Ezekiel Elliott this offseason.
Last year, Elliott had 231 rushing attempts for 876 yards and 12 touchdowns. He finished the year as the RB19, averaging 11.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. While Gordon won’t have that much success in Dallas, he could have a fantasy impactful role behind Tony Pollard.
