Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has struggled in his second year with the team. The veteran is the QB23 for the year, averaging only 11.7 fantasy points per game.
Last year he was one of the best quarterbacks in fantasy football, averaging 19.4 fantasy points per game. He ended the year as the QB6, ahead of several superstar quarterbacks, including Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, and Kyler Murray.
Unfortunately, Stafford showed up on the injury report earlier this week, putting his status in doubt for Sunday’s matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Is Matthew Stafford Playing In Week 10?
The veteran quarterback didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday because of a concussion. However, Stafford did practice in a limited fashion on Friday, according to head coach Sean McVay.
While the former No. 1 overall pick could clear the concussion protocol and play Sunday, fantasy players should be prepared for Stafford to miss the game. If the veteran can’t play, John Wolford will make his second-career start.
Should I Pickup And Start John Wolford?
While the matchup against the Cardinals is appealing, fantasy players should avoid playing Wolford. The young quarterback has never thrown a touchdown pass in the NFL. Furthermore, his performance in his lone start was disappointing.
Wolford started the Week 17 matchup in 2020 against Arizona. He completed only 57.9% of his pass attempts for 231 yards and an interception. While the quarterback added 56 rushing yards, Wolford scored only 12.8 fantasy points in the game.
Instead of adding the Rams’ backup quarterback, fantasy players should add Jacoby Brissett off the waiver wire. The veteran is rostered in only 12.5% of ESPN leagues. More importantly, he has played well lately.
Brissett is the QB19 for the year, averaging 14.1 fantasy points per game. He has scored 14.4 or more fantasy points in all but three games this year. More importantly, the veteran is coming off his best performance of the season, scoring 20.3 fantasy points against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins have surrendered the most fantasy points to quarterback this season. While Brissett lacks top-five upside this week, he is the perfect last-minute replacement option for Stafford.
