Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford was the first overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. Stafford has a solid college career, completing 57.1% of his pass attempts for 7.731 yards and 51 touchdowns in three years at Georgia.
The former Bulldog spent the first 12 years of his career with the Lions. He completed 62.6% of his pass attempts for 45,109 yards and 282 touchdowns, compared to 144 interceptions in 165 games. However, Stafford got traded to the Los Angeles Rams after over a decade with Detroit.
Stafford won the Super Bowl in his first year with the Rams. The veteran quarterback has completed 65.7% of his pass attempts for 9,043 yards and 59 touchdowns compared to 32 interceptions in 34 games with the franchise. Unfortunately, the former No. 1 overall pick has dealt with multiple injuries in his career.

Matthew Stafford Injury Update For Fantasy Football
The former Bulldog suffered a thumb injury in the Week 8 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Stafford left the game and returned but ultimately left for good. Los Angeles feared the veteran quarterback could miss several weeks with the injury.
Thankfully, head coach Sean McVay says Stafford has a UCL sprain in his thumb and is considered day-to-day. The Rams haven’t ruled him out for Sunday’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
Matthew Stafford Fantasy Football Outlook
The former No. 1 overall pick has been solid this year despite not having Cooper Kupp over the first month. Stafford has 2,070 passing yards and eight touchdowns compared to seven interceptions.
While the numbers are elite, the former Bulldog is a significant upgrade over backup quarterback Brett Rypien. If Stafford has to miss time with the thumb injury, the Rams’ receiving core will take a massive fantasy hit.
Puka Nacua has been the biggest surprise in the NFL this season. The rookie and Kupp have formed one of the top 1-2 punches at the wide receiver position. However, both players struggled in Week 8 with Stafford injured, combining for seven receptions on 17 targets for 64 receiving yards.
If Stafford has to miss any time, hopefully, it’s only the upcoming matchup against the Packers. The Rams have their bye in Week 10. Missing next week’s game would give the veteran quarterback to heal before the critical Week 11 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
