Mason Miller ended up getting the call from the Athletics in mid-April after looking dominant in his two starts across Double-A and Triple-A to start the year. He flashed top-end fastball velocity on his way to a 2.08 ERA, 19:2 K:BB across 8.2 innings pitched.
Miller has been limited by injuries since being drafted in the third round by Oakland in 2021. Across four stops in the minors, he’s totaled just 28.2 IP but posted a 53:6 K:BB. The high strikeout upside forced the A’s hand in calling him up to pitch for the major league club.
How serious is Miller’s elbow injury? Let's take a look at the latest reports and find an answer.

Mason Miller Injury Update
Mason Miller was sent home, mid-road-trip, on Monday after experiencing right elbow tightness, following his second consecutive quality start. Miller’s season-long ERA sits at 3.38 with 22 strikeouts over 21.1 innings pitched.
Miller has posted consecutive strong starts, one of which came against the Mariners where he did not allow a hit across 7.0 IP. Fantasy managers can only hope that this is a flexor muscle injury and not a UCL injury like we’ve seen in the past with elbow tightness. Time will tell as we continue to monitor his status throughout the week.
Mason Miller Fantasy Baseball Outlook
These situations rarely turn out to be positive news but we can only hope for the best for the young flamethrower. A’s manager, Mark Kotsay says the team is hoping for the best but certainly wouldn’t rule out an extended stay on the injured list.
With missed time throughout Miller’s young career, we will have to wait on testing results in order to get a clear picture of his timetable. Miller was getting grouped in with impressive rookie pitchers that have been emerging over the past month, each standing out in their own right.
A long-term injury would be a mounting blow to the Athletics front office and fanbase after numerous reports of the team packing their bags for Las Vegas in the near future. Fantasy managers will be monitoring reports throughout the week, hoping tests reveal a minor injury that he can return from in the coming weeks.
