Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. was the 63rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Broncos traded up from the 68th overall pick to secure the former Oklahoma star wide receiver.
Mims had an excellent college career at Oklahoma. The former Sooner had 123 receptions for 2,398 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in his three years in college.
Furthermore, he had the best year of his career in 2022 despite losing superstar quarterback Caleb Williams and head coach Lincoln Riley to USC.

What Did Marvin Mims Jr. Accomplish In 2022?
Mims had 69 receptions for 1,315 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns in his first two years at Oklahoma. When the Sooners lost Williams and Riley last offseason, many expected the star wide receiver to transfer. Instead, Mims stuck around.
Last year the former Sooner had 54 receptions for 1,083 receiving yards and six touchdowns, setting career highs in receptions and receiving yards. Furthermore, Mims led the team in receptions and receiving yards while finishing second in receiving touchdowns. He had more than twice as many receiving yards as any other Sooner last year.
More importantly, Mims was one of the top deep threats in college football last season. He finished first in catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns among Big 12 wide receivers on targets 20 or more yards downfield.
Is Marvin Mims Jr. The Broncos WR3?
Unfortunately, Tim Patrick suffered a torn Achilles in yesterday’s practice, ending his 2023 season. It will be the second consecutive season the veteran wide receiver will miss after he tore his ACL during training camp last year.
With Patrick out for the year, Mims will compete with veterans Marquez Callaway and Kendall Hinton for the No. 3 wide receiver role behind Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton. However, fantasy players should expect Mims to come away with the job.
The Broncos wouldn’t have traded up during the NFL Draft to select the former Oklahoma star wide receiver if they didn’t love his talent. Meanwhile, Callaway has only one season in his career with over 215 receiving yards or one touchdown. Similarly, Hinton has 486 receiving yards and one touchdown in his career.
Fantasy players shouldn’t draft Mims. However, the former Sooner could become an early-season waiver wire target.
