The Green Bay Packers made a surprise move this offseason by signing running back Josh Jacobs to a four-year deal. His arrival led to veteran Aaron Jones getting cut just days later. Jacobs will now be in line to lead the Packers' backfield this upcoming season.
However, the RB2 role is still up for grabs. Running back AJ Dillon held that job last year, and he returned to the team following a one-year deal in free agency. The Packers, though, also drafted MarShawn Lloyd in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
So, is Dillon or Lloyd the fantasy football RB2 for the Packers? Let's dive in and find out.

Who is the Green Bay Packers' RB2?
There are a lot of question marks surrounding the Packers offense entering the 2024 season, including the RB2 position. Dillon struggled on the ground in his fourth NFL season last year, totaling 613 rush yards, two touchdowns, and 3.4 yards per carry. But his experience should give him the edge for that RB2 job in 2024.

While Lloyd might be the more talented back of the two, the Packers could decide to ease their rookie in throughout his first year. The former USC product totaled 820 rush yards and nine touchdowns in his final college season, and his skill set could be used for Green Bay in Year 1.
Nevertheless, expect Dillon to back up Jacobs for most of the season. His power and ability to get those tough yards will help him stay on the field more. He is also a much better pass blocker than Lloyd, so that likely keeps him in that RB2 role this year.
Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?
Both Dillon and Lloyd are going extremely late in drafts. The 26-year-old has an ADP outside the top 200, while the rookie finds himself with a 165.7 ADP on Sleeper. With both running backs behind Jacobs on the depth chart, neither is a great pick in 2024 fantasy football drafts.
Even if Dillon starts the season as the RB2, he won't have much fantasy value, with Jacobs likely seeing most of the backfield touches in Green Bay. If you draft Jacobs in the first couple of rounds, though, Lloyd could be a solid handcuff in the later rounds. The rookie would see a larger workload if the veteran running back were to miss any time.
