New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marquez Callaway has put together a solid NFL career. The former Tennessee Volunteer was an undrafted free agent in 2020. He signed with the Saints and had a productive rookie year, totaling 21 receptions on 27 targets for 213 receiving yards.
However, the young receiver gained momentum in 2021. Callaway had 46 receptions on 84 targets for 698 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Not only did the young player set career highs in every category, but he also led the team in receiving touchdowns that year.
Unfortunately, Callaway didn’t have a third-year breakout. New Orleans used a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft on Chris Olave and signed Jarvis Landry in free agency. Following the new additions to the team, Callaway saw his production decline.

Is Marquez Callaway A Free Agent?
Last year the former Volunteer had only 16 receptions on 32 targets for 158 receiving yards and one touchdown. Callaway lost snaps and targets to multiple wide receivers, including Tre’Quan Smith and the undrafted free agent Rashid Shaheed.
Following his disappointing 2022 season, the Saints decided not to place a restricted free agent tender on Callaway. After three years with the team, the former Volunteer is an unrestricted free agent.
Which Teams Would Be The Best Fit For Marquez Callaway?
Callaway has 83 receptions on 143 targets for 1,069 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in his three-year NFL career. Despite the lack of awe-inspiring numbers, the former undrafted free agent made some impressive plays during his time in New Orleans.
While he is far from a No. 1 caliber wide receiver, Callaway is a capable role player for any NFL team. The veteran can make plays downfield with the right quarterback. Teams that don’t have the cap space to sign a top free agent wide receiver should turn their attention to the former Volunteer.
One potential landing spot is the Minnesota Vikings. They recently released former Pro Bowler Adam Thielen for salary cap purposes. Callaway would be a solid addition in Minnesota alongside Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn.
Another possible landing spot is the Carolina Panthers. The team traded DJ Moore to the Chicago Bears as part of a deal to acquire the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. While Callaway won’t fill Moore’s shoes as the No. 1 wide receiver, the former Saint can provide depth and experience to a group that lacks both.
