Veteran running back Marlon Mack was the 143rd overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2017 NFL Draft. Mack had a productive college career, totaling 586 rushing attempts for 3,609 yards and 32 touchdowns in three years at South Florida.
The former South Florida star had a quiet rookie season, totaling 93 rushing attempts for 358 yards and three touchdowns. However, he was much better the following season, with 195 rushing attempts for 908 yards and nine touchdowns in 12 games.
Mack’s breakout season was in 2019. That year the veteran had 247 rushing attempts for 1,091 yards and eight touchdowns. Unfortunately, the former South Florida Star tore his Achilles in Week 1 of the 2020 season and was never the same.

What Did Marlon Mack Accomplish In 2022?
The veteran returned to the Colts in 2021, totaling only 28 rushing attempts for 101 yards in six games. Unfortunately, Mack’s 2022 season wasn’t much better. He started the year with the San Francisco 49ers, playing in only two contests.
However, the former South Florida star played better with the Denver Broncos. Mack had 16 rushing attempts for 84 yards and a touchdown in six games with the team. Furthermore, he also had eight receptions on 10 targets for 99 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Is Marlon Mack A Good Fit For The Cardinals?
Many thought the veteran’s career was likely over after tearing his Achilles in 2020. However, Mack has bounced around the NFL over the past few years. Earlier today, he signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals.
While it’s nice to see the veteran running back on a roster before the Cardinals’ first preseason game, Mack has an uphill fight to make the team. Arizona likes the second-year running back Keaontay Ingram. More importantly, James Conner remains the featured running back.
Last year the former Pittsburgh Star averaged 21.3 touches and 17.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game over his final seven games. Furthermore, he averaged over 4.7 yards per rushing attempt in four of the final five matchups. Despite being an older player, Conner was one of the top running backs in the second half of last season. Fantasy players should expect him to have a significant workload again in 2023.
Unfortunately, Mack will have a hard time making the final 53-man roster. More importantly, he has no fantasy value in Arizona.
