Dallas Cowboys tight end Luke Schoonmaker was the No. 58 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, landing in one of the best offenses in the league. The 24-year-old had slim college production but was a high-level athlete at the NFL Combine, so his upside could far exceed his raw college stats.
However, Schoonmaker is dealing with an injury early on in his career. We have the latest update.
Is Schoonmaker healthy or injured and what is his 2023 fantasy football outlook? Let's get into it.

Luke Schoonmaker Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Schoonmaker (foot) was wearing a protective boot on his right foot at organized team activities on Thursday and is dealing with a case of plantar fasciitis that has limited his activity.
Schoonmaker is missing out on valuable repetitions heading into his first NFL season, but hopefully, he'll be able to work out in full once training camp commences at the end of July. The TE1 job in Dallas looks to be wide open, so the sooner he can get back to full health -- the better.
Luke Schoonmaker 2023 Rookie Profile
At Michigan, Schoonmaker caught just 64 passes for 637 yards and seven touchdowns in 43 career games. He was a solid red zone target and his athleticism proved to make a difference when the draft rolled around.
However, expectations should be tempered in his rookie campaign, especially since he's dealing with the foot injury. Tight ends often take years to develop, and since he's not already an established pass-catcher, he'll likely share plenty of reps with Jake Ferguson and Payton Hendershot in 2023. That's not to say he can't earn the starting role, but it'll be a tough task for him to be a fantasy-relevant option right away.
His injury shouldn't be a concern in dynasty rookie drafts, but it could be reason for caution in redraft leagues. In shallow leagues, he's not on the fantasy radar since his ADP sits at the TE37 spot.
