Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas was the 120th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. Thomas was a productive college quarterback, totaling 9,003 passing yards and 52 touchdowns in four years at Virginia Tech. He also had 495 rushing attempts for 1,359 yards and 24 touchdowns in college.
Unfortunately, the former Hokie’s NFL career got off to a slow start. Thomas played for three teams over his first four seasons, totaling only 35 receptions on 54 targets for 317 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 42 career games with the Cardinals, Buffalo Bills, and Detroit Lions.
However, the quarterback turned tight end had a breakout year in 2020 with Washington. Thomas had 71 receptions on 110 targets for 670 receiving yards and six touchdowns, all career highs. While his numbers haven’t been as impressive since that year, the veteran tight end is a critical part of the Commanders’ offense.

What Did Logan Thomas Accomplish In Week 5?
Thomas has had a solid 2023 season. The former Virginia Tech star has 18 receptions on 25 targets for 183 receiving yards and two touchdowns. However, his best game this year came in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears.
The veteran tight end had nine receptions on 11 targets for 77 receiving yards and a touchdown, all season highs, scoring 16.2 half-point PPR fantasy points. Furthermore, he led the Commanders in all five categories last week.
Is Logan Thomas A Good Fantasy Football Pickup For Week 6?
Fantasy players should be impressed with Thomas’ Week 5 performance. The former Virginia Tech quarterback was the TE5, scoring more fantasy than several big-name tight ends, including Mark Andrews, Darren Waller, and Kyle Pitts. Furthermore, he was productive despite finishing outside the top 10 tight ends in route participation.
The veteran tight end has been a go-to target for Sam Howell this year. Thomas is fourth on the team with 25 targets, behind Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Curtis Samuel. However, he missed 1.5 games because of a concussion.
Adjusting for the time the veteran missed with a concussion, Thomas actually leads the team in targets per game (seven). According to Fantasy Points Data, the former Virginia Tech star has a higher target per route run rate (18%) than any of the team's starting wide receivers.
Thomas is an appealing streaming option in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons.
