The Los Angeles Rams drafted Michigan running back Blake Corum in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Rams fans were excited about Corum's addition, as they now will see him alongside Kyren Williams, whom the franchise drafted in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Corum played a huge role in Michigan's championship-winning season last year, and he enters the NFL with expectations. Now that Sean McVay has two excellent running backs at his disposal, the entire offense will benefit.
After Corum's arrival, is Williams still the RB1 for the Rams? Let's take a look at how the Super Bowl LVI champions' backfield will shape in September.

Who is the Los Angeles Rams' RB1?
As of now, Kyren Williams is the Rams' primary running back. The Notre Dame product had a tremendous season last year and played a big role in his team's journey to the playoffs. In 2023, he rushed for 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns on 228 carries in 12 games. Williams also had 32 receptions for 206 yards and three touchdowns.
In his rookie season, Blake Corum will continue to learn under Williams but is expected to see a lot of action. The Michigan product will reduce Williams' workload, as the Rams will prioritize the health of their emerging 23-year-old star.
Last year, Williams suffered an ankle injury and missed four games due to it. Moreover, he also injured his left hand in the Wild Card game against the Lions, which later required surgery.
Kyren Williams played more than 75% of snaps on offense in nine of his 12 games last year, and having a running back like Corum will allow McVay to keep fresh legs on the field. The Rams exceeded all expectations last year and drafted well this year.
The presence of two great running backs will open up the field for Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. This Rams team is built for success, and it wouldn't be surprising if they gave the San Francisco 49ers a run for their money for the NFC West championship this year.
