Is Kyle Pitts Out For The Rest Of The Season?
Atlanta Falcons' tight end Kyle Pitts has been a consistent point of frustration for fantasy managers this season, as Atlanta's run-heavy offensive attack often ignores the talented Pitts for long stretches. Through Week 11, the second-year player stands as the overall fantasy TE13 in standard leagues.
Pitts was forced to leave Atlanta's Week 11 win over the Chicago Bears with an apparent knee injury. He was able to leave the field under his own power and initial reports suggested he suffered an MCL sprain. Unfortunately, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is now reporting that following an MRI, it's believed that Pitts suffered a torn MCL that would require surgery and effectively end his season.
Kyle Pitts Fantasy Football Outlook
The frustration continues for Pitts' fantasy managers, as the Monday morning news appears to be grim for the second-year phenom.
While initially thought to be merely an MCL sprain, it looks as though an MRI has confirmed a tear that will require surgery, leaving fantasy GMs in a real pickle at the always-tough TE position.
There's no real actionable pickup for managers on an Atlanta squad that has MyCole Pruitt and Parker Hesse on the depth chart behind Pitts. Neither should see enough consistent work in his absence to make much of a fantasy impact. Those with Pitts on their rosters might want to wait for a second opinion before cutting him loose, but it looks as though his managers will be forced to scour the waiver wire to fill the tricky TE spot.
