Is Khalil Herbert Injured Or Healthy?
Fantasy players had high hopes for the former Kansas and Virginia Tech star after the Bears lost Montgomery in free agency. The veteran running back has 51 rushing attempts for 272 yards and 10 receptions on 18 targets for 83 receiving yards and a touchdown this season.
Herbert had an impressive performance in Week 5 against the Washington Commanders, totaling 10 rushing attempts for 76 yards. Unfortunately, he suffered an ankle injury. While the veteran returned to the game, Herbert quickly left again.
Sadly, the veteran running back will reportedly miss multiple weeks with the ankle injury. With Herbert out of the lineup, Roschon Johnson and D’Onta Foreman will take over in the backfield.
Should I Pickup Roschon Johnson?
Unfortunately, Johnson suffered a concussion in the Week 5 win over the Commanders. Hopefully, he can clear the concussion protocol and can play this week. The rookie has been one of the more dangerous running backs in the NFL this season, posting a 16% explosive run rate.
While Johnson is the top long-term option in Chicago’s backfield, fantasy players should also consider adding Foreman. Unlike the rookie, the veteran is available in over 90% of ESPN Leagues.
The veteran running has been a healthy scratch in four consecutive games. Foreman last played in Week 1, totaling five rushing attempts for 16 yards and two receptions for eight receiving yards. However, the former Longhorn was productive last year with the Carolina Panthers.
Despite a limited role to start the year, Foreman nearly had 1,000 rushing yards in 2022. He totaled 203 attempts for 914 yards and five touchdowns, averaging eight half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
