Is Khalil Herbert Hurt Or Healthy?
Khalil Herbert has put together a productive fantasy campaign in 2022 while sharing the Chicago Bears backfield with David Montgomery. Herbert has compiled 705 total scrimmage yards and five TDs this season on 114 touches. The Virginia Tech product filled in admirably for Montgomery when the latter was forced to miss time earlier this year and has remained fantasy viable since he returned to the lineup.
Herbert suffered what appeared to be a hip injury on a kickoff return in the fourth quarter of Chicago's Week 10 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Khalil Herbert Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 11
Unfortunately, Herbert's hip injury appears to be significant. ESPN's Field Yates reported Tuesday afternoon that the Bears are placing Herbert on Injured Reserve.
Herbert's IR designation means he'll miss Chicago's next four games. This development will mean a heavier workload for the Bears' incumbent starting running back, David Montgomery.
Montgomery's fantasy managers should expect an uptick in his usage, as Herbert was constantly eating into his volume. Chicago's third-string running back is Trestan Ebner and he'll step into the backup role for the Bears. Ebner is a noteworthy handcuff stash in deeper leagues.
