Is Kenny Pickett Playing in Week 9?
In Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett left the game in the first half with a rib injury. He did not return. Mitchell Trubisky took over at quarterback for the Steelers in that contest. Pickett was 10-for-16 for 73 yards at the time he left the game. He also had 10 rushing yards.
While there was initially some uncertainty about Pickett's Week 9 availability, especially on a short week with the Steelers playing Thursday night, it appears that Pickett is good to go for this one.
Pickett told reporters earlier this week that he will be playing when the team faces the Titans on Thursday night. There's not many sources more reliable than a player's own words.
Kenny Pickett Fantasy Football Injury Outlook
While Pickett is set to play this week, that doesn't mean fantasy football managers should be racing to add Pickett to their starting lineups. The second-year passer has struggled to move the football. He hasn't had more than 235 passing tards in any contest and has only thrown multiple touchdowns once all year, throwing two of them in a win over the Raiders back in September.
Fantasy managers should expect Pickett to play, but he's a low-end QB2 play in fantasy leagues at this point. His performance this year hasn't inspired much confidence in fantasy managers and he takes on a tough Titans defense that has allowed the 12th-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. There's not a lot of upside with Pickett, even with him healthy this week.
