Is Kenny Pickett Injured?
Head coach Mike Tomlin has referred to his starting quarterback as "day-to-day". Pickett hit the ground hard on a third down play in the early first quarter. He did return for Pittsburgh's next drive which resulted in a three-and-out and then Trubisky took over for the rest of the game.
The former Pittsburgh Panther is still in concussion protocol, but there is hope that he will be cleared in time for Week 15's road trip to the Carolina Panthers. Pickett was dressed in full pads for Wednesday's practice.
If Pickett can't go, there's been buzz about Mason Rudolph getting the starting nod in a game that Pittsburgh direly needs to win if they want to make the postseason.
Is Kenny Pickett Playing in Week 15?
It remains up in the air whether or not Pittsburgh will have their promising rookie under center for Sunday's game. Pickett's participation in practice these next two days will be telltale signs of his availability this week.
If the 2021 ACC Player of the Year is able to play, he'll face a Carolina Panther defense that's allowing the 17th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year. Not exactly an enticing matchup, Pickett shouldn't be in your lineup regardless of his status.
Keep an eye on Pittsburgh's injury reports following Friday and Saturday's practice. If Kenny Pickett's participation level doesn't increase before Sunday, expect the Steelers to have either Mason Rudolph or Mitch Trubisky under center.
