Is Kenny McIntosh Worth Drafting For Fantasy Football?

Former Georgia running back Kenny McIntosh may currently be sitting atop the Seattle Seahawks' depth chart due to the injuries to Kenneth Walker III (groin) and Zach Charbonnet (shoulder).

McIntosh, a 2023 seventh-round pick, was already impressing in camp before the injuries started piling up. Coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Sunday that "he’s in great shape, and he’s just razor sharp, and he’s been explosive, innovative with his runs and his cuts, caught the ball well."

Kenny McIntosh Prospect Profile

McIntosh spent a large part of his career at Georgia behind future NFL running backs Zamir White (Las Vegas) and James Cook (Buffalo). He took control of the backfield during his senior year, totaling 829 yards on the ground. Where he truly shined, however, was in the passing game, finishing third on the Bulldogs with 505 yards on 43 receptions.

McIntosh slipped to the seventh round due to his performance at the NFL Combine, though. His 4.62 40-yard dash time was the third-slowest among all running backs. The Seahawks still had their eye on him, despite selecting fellow rookie Zach Charbonnet in the second round.

Is McIntosh Worth Drafting For Fantasy Football?

This is a backfield to keep an eye on. Charbonnet was ruled out indefinitely, while Walker is considered week-to-week. We don't yet know the extent of Charbonnet's shoulder injury, and soft tissue injuries tend to linger, despite Carroll saying Walker's groin is not a "terrible injury."

If both backs are to miss time any time to begin the year, signs are pointing to a decent workload for McIntosh. Even if Walker plays and Charbonnet is out, McIntosh could mix in on third downs. Walker did not have strong production in the passing game during his college days and only averaged 1.8 receptions per game last season for Seattle.

McIntosh is worth a late-round pick in redraft leagues, especially if Walker and Charbonnet remain out as the season opener gets closer. He should be rostered in dynasty formats as well and can be a late pick in best-ball leagues.
