The Seattle Seahawks drafted running back Kenny McIntosh in the seventh round (237th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. McIntosh, a former Georgia Bulldog product, ran for 829 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022. He also added 43 catches for 505 yards and two touchdowns through the air.
McIntosh will enter his first year fighting for the RB3 job in Seattle with veteran DeeJay Dallas. However, the rookie's recent injury could put that in jeopardy.
Is McIntosh injured or healthy? How long will the rookie be out for? Let's take a look.
Is Kenny McIntosh Injured Or Healthy?
The Seahawks ran a mock game on Friday, and McIntosh left early with a knee sprain. On a rush attempt up the middle, the rookie's left knee got bent under him, and he left with a left knee sprain. The team doctors immediately wrapped his knee following the injury.
The team didn't know the extent of his knee sprain on Friday. But three days later, head coach Pete Carroll said McIntosh will likely be out for a couple of weeks.
The good news for the rookie is that the injury doesn't appear to be too serious. However, his absence does hurt his chances of winning the RB3 job in Seattle and possibly suiting up in Week 1. There's still over one month until the Seahawks play their first regular season game, so it'll depend on how fast McIntosh recovers from his knee sprain.
Kenny McIntosh 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
McIntosh's injury could spoil his chances of earning the Seahawks' RB3 job this season. He's also still fighting for a roster spot come September. Either way, though, the rookie should be left on waivers in most leagues in 2023.
The former Georgia Bulldog will have a hard time getting consistent snaps, if any, in Seattle's backfield this season. Kenneth Walker III and 2023 second-round pick Zach Charbonnet will lead the way on the ground with Dallas also filling in behind them.
As a result, McIntosh might not see many opportunities on offense in year one. He likely won't be much of a factor in Seattle's ground game, but it'll be interesting to see if Carroll uses him in the passing game. Still, the 23-year-old shouldn't be drafted in most leagues in 2023.
