The backfield in New Orleans is in flux. The Saints currently have three notable running backs on the roster: long-time star Alvin Kamara, offseason addition Jamaal Williams, and rookie Kendre Miller. Kamara will miss the first three games of the regular season due to a suspension stemming from a fight in Las Vegas in 2022. That means Williams and Miller are tabbed to carry the load while he's away.
Any injury could quickly derail that plan. Miller left Sunday's preseason game against the Chiefs with a knee sprain. He was able to walk off under his own power and without a noticeable limp.
How will the sprain impact what the Saints do moving forward, and where do you select Miller in fantasy football drafts?

Kendre Miller Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Tests confirmed that Miller's knee injury isn't serious. There is hope in the Saints' facility that the third-round rookie will be ready by the start of the regular season.
However, this is the same knee that Miller injured in the Fiesta Bowl as a member of the TCU Horned Frogs. That injury forced him off the field during OTAs earlier this offseason and he began training camp on the NFI list.
Kendre Miller 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
In addition to Miller's injury and the suspension for Kamara, the Saints also lost running back Eno Benjamin to an Achilles injury earlier in camp. New Orleans then flirted with bringing in Kareem Hunt. The free agent visited with the Saints but left before working out. He's since visited two other teams (Indianapolis and Minnesota) but has not yet signed anywhere.
If New Orleans revisits bringing in a veteran runner, it could spell a lot of trouble for Miller's 2023 outlook. The roles for Kamara and Williams seem solidified once the former returns from the suspension.
If he's healthy by Week 1, the rookie still has an opportunity to earn a role. But it's likely to be short-lived. He's worth a roster spot in deeper leagues and dynasty formats. In standard-sized redraft leagues, he can be selected in later rounds. There are also other running backs to be had there (Jaylen Warren, Tyler Allgeier, Tyjae Spears, Zamir White) with clearer paths to start-worthy work.
