Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen is a perennial top-15 receiver for fantasy football, who was drafted to be great again in 2022.
Allen entered the season with concerns about his age and the emergence of Mike Williams. However, he came out of the gate firing on all cylinders against the Raiders before unfortunately exiting with a hamstring injury.
This leaves fantasy managers wondering about their elite receiver. Is Allen injured? Will he play in Week 2? Let's dive in.

Keenan Allen Injury Updates for Fantasy Football
UPDATE 9/14: Keenan Allen has officially been ruled out for Week 2 against the Chiefs.
Keenan Allen Injury News
As referenced above, Allen caught all four of his targets for 66 yards prior to his early departure. He pulled up grabbing his leg after running a route, then headed to the sideline, prompting this report.
About 40 minutes late, we received the official ruling that he would not return.
While it was helpful that Allen still provided fantasy managers with decent production in Week 1, the bigger concern is his availability for Week 2.
Is Keenan Allen Injured or Playing in Week 2?
UPDATE 9/14: Keenan Allen has officially been ruled out for Week 2 against the Chiefs.
Allen was the first to comment on his injury, downplaying the severity.
Allen's optimism provided hope for fantasy managers. Unfortunately, that hope began to diminish when he was reported as absent from practice on Monday, with further pessimism added when this update was released on Tuesday afternoon.
The quick turnaround offers very little time for Allen to recover and prepare for Thursday's game against the Chiefs, making it very unlikely he will be able to play. This is a tough blow to fantasy managers who are counting on Allen as one of their top receivers. It's also disappointing because this matchup is projected to be a high-scoring affair with lots of fantasy output from both teams.
The good news is that because this game occurs on Thursday, he will have ten full days to rest for Week 3, increasing the likelihood he is able to return next week against the Jaguars. Additionally, the injury is not expected to keep him out long-term.
In the meantime, there are lots of great wide receiver waive wire options available for Week 2, all of which are outlined here in our RotoBaller Waiver Wire Pickups List.
