Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney was an exciting prospect coming out of Florida in the 2021 NFL Draft. The New York Giants selected him in the first round but eventually traded him to the Chiefs just a year later.
In Kansas City, he's flashed upside in small spurts, but he has continued to deal with injury issues. Toney missed multiple games last season for Kansas City and did not participate in training camp or any preseason action thanks to a knee injury. His Week 1 availability is in question, and we have the latest update.
Is Toney playing in Week 1? Should you start him in fantasy football? Let's dive in.

Is Kadarius Toney Playing In Week 1 Against the Lions?
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney (knee) is "good to go" for Thursday night's season opener against the Detroit Lions, head coach Andy Reid told the media.
Toney's health has been quite the topic of discussion this offseason, but now we have confirmation that the 24-year-old is on track to suit up in Week 1.
It's worth noting that Reid later labeled Toney as day-to-day, so don't be surprised if he's still listed on the game-day injury report.
Should I Start Kadarius Toney In Week 1?
While Toney has big-play ability, starting him in Week 1 carries a ton of risk. The 24-year-old wideout hasn't been able to practice this offseason and was deployed as a gadget player last season. In all likelihood, that's the role he'll assume in Week 1.
Last season, Detroit allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to wideouts. That said, Toney can be utilized as a deep league flex option, but fantasy managers in shallow leagues should have choices with higher floors and ceilings in Week 1 considering the majority of players are healthy and no teams will be on a bye for several weeks.
After Week 1, it'll be easier to assess Toney's fantasy outlook. For now, he's a mediocre WR4-5 option.
