Justin Herbert is in another transition period because he is set to play for his third head coach in five NFL seasons. However, there’s much optimism in his current situation because Los Angeles head coach Jim Harbaugh is a proven winner in every coaching stop he’s had.
However, Herbert’s health is vital to the Chargers’ success. Without him behind center, Los Angeles' AFC squad's path to the playoffs gets tougher. Unfortunately, he’s injured after their most recent training camp scrimmage.
An injury to a franchise quarterback can trigger shock and discomfort to the team’s devoted fanbase. However, Chargers fans can breathe easier because his condition seems minor.

Is Justin Herbert Injured or Healthy?
As the Chargers’ official account on X shared, the 2020 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year suffered an injury to the plantar fascia on his right foot. The team’s medical staff recommended Herbert to wear a walking boot for around two weeks.
After which, they will gradually work his way back until he returns to full strength. While this injury can be concerning, the Chargers expect him to be ready to play in Week 1 of 2024.
Following yesterday’s practice, Justin Herbert was diagnosed with an injury to the plantar fascia in his right foot.

However, this foot issue adds another chapter to Justin Herbert’s injury history. Though he was durable in his first three seasons, the former Oregon standout suffered a broken index finger during their Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos.
That season-ending injury left him with no choice but to skip the Chargers’ last four games of the 2023 season. He has looked healthy, though, after receiving surgery for that condition.
Will Justin Herbert Play in Week 1?
The Chargers are optimistic that Herbert will be available during their season-opener at home against the Las Vegas Raiders. Until then, the 2021 Pro Bowl quarterback won’t participate in team scrimmages, giving Easton Stick and Max Duggan some first-team reps.
In sympathy with QB Justin Herbert, I can report that I too have a plantar fascia injury (torn medial band). This is where it hurts like *#%*^ and I did it running about 4 weeks ago. Still painful. Can’t run.

Needless to say, the Chargers’ starting quarterback role is not up for grabs. Herbert remains their top option for a playoff berth and their first postseason victory since 2018.
