Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle) had an excellent season in 2023 for fantasy football before going down with an injury, being placed on injured reserve, and missing the final four games of the season.
Herbert entered 2024 fully healed from that injury and has led the Chargers to a 2-0 record. However, he now has head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman running the show. Harbaugh and Roman are famous for implementing extremely run-heavy schemes, and Herbert has yet to pass for over 200 yards.
To make matters worse, Herbert showed up on the injury report after Sunday's game against the Panthers. Is Justin Herbert hurt or healthy? Will he play in Week 3? Let's examine Herbert's injury update and outlook for fantasy football.

Justin Herbert Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Herbert suffered an ankle injury in the Week 2 win against the Carolina Panthers. Herbert was noticeably limping after the game, and while the Chargers have been non-committal about the specifics of the injury, he missed practice on Wednesday, which isn't the best sign.

Luckily, he didn't have a serious injury according to news reports, and coach Harbaugh hasn't indicated that it's anything serious. There's a possibility that it could linger, and it's on the same leg (right) that he suffered his plantar fascia injury before the season started.

There should be some concern among fantasy managers. It's possible his ankle injury could have been worse due to his plantar fascia injury, or that a weak plantar fascia could have caused the ankle issue in the first place. Multiple lower leg injuries on the same side within weeks of each other are a cause for some alarm.
