Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. Unfortunately, the superstar has struggled with injuries over the past few years.
Furthermore, the former Oregon star’s fantasy value took a massive hit in the offseason after the Chargers hired Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman as the team’s head coach and offensive coordinator.
While many expected Herbert to throw less in 2024 than any other year of his career, the superstar still had value in superflex leagues. Unfortunately, he has dealt with injuries since the start of training camp.

Is Justin Herbert Hurt Or Healthy?
Herbert missed a significant part of training chunk of training camp with a foot injury. While he was cleared for the Week 1 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, the superstar suffered a high ankle sprain the following week against the Carolina Panthers.
Despite not practicing all week, the veteran started against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. He completed 66.7% of his pass attempts for 125 yards and a touchdown, totaling nine fantasy points. Unfortunately, Herbert re-aggravated his high ankle sprain, forcing him out of the game after playing 78% of the snaps.
The superstar was wearing a walking boot at the post-game press conference on Sunday. Herbert said he thinks the injury is just a re-aggravation and hopes to play against the Kansas City Chiefs this week.

Should I Start Justin Herbert In Week 4?
Hopefully, Herbert can play Sunday against the Chiefs. However, the Chargers have their bye in Week 5 and little chance of beating their division rivals, especially with both starting offensive tackles likely not playing. Fantasy players shouldn’t be surprised if the team sits the franchise quarterback, giving him three weeks to heal before the Week 6 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
Fantasy players shouldn’t start Herbert this week, even if he suits up for Los Angeles. The superstar has scored fewer than 11 fantasy points in every game this season. Instead, fantasy players should add Daniel Jones off the waiver wire (rostered in 6% of Yahoo leagues) and start him against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night.
Jones has played well over the past two weeks, totaling four passing touchdowns and 18.9 fantasy points per game. Meanwhile, the Cowboys have surrendered 23.8 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over the past two weeks.
