With the fantasy football championships here, we are going around the league and checking in on various players that have been affected by COVID-19 or other injuries.
In this article we will check in on the injuries for Tennessee Titans wide receiver Julio Jones ahead of his team's Sunday game against the Dolphins.
Is Julio Jones playing this week? If not, i there someone else on the team you should pick up and play in his place? Let's take a look.
Is Julio Jones Playing This Week Against the Dolphins?
Julio Jones remains on the NFL's COVID-19 list, which means that he won't play this week against the Miami Dolphins.
It's been a tough first season for Jones in Tennessee, as various issues have limited him to nine games this season. He's accumulated just 26 catches for 376 yards and is set to finish without a touchdown for the first time in his career, unless he returns in Week 18 and gets one.
Should I Pickup and Start Nick Westbrook-Ikhine?
We already know that A.J. Brown will be a WR1, especially with Jones out of the picture yet again. But none of y'all were even remotely considering not playing Brown. Last week without Jones, Brown was the offense for the Titans. Ryan Tannehill completed 22 passes; half of those went to Brown, who finished with 11 catches for 145 and a touchdown. With no Derrick Henry, Brown is the best player on this offense.
But are there any other Titans wide receivers worth picking up or starting, such as Nick Westbrook-Ikhine? It depends how desperate you are. Tannehill had his sights set on Brown last week, which didn't leave many looks for everyone else. NWI was targeted three times, catching two passes or 38 yards. After catching seven passes for 107 in Week 11, NWI hasn't topped four catches or 38 yard since.
The Dolphins do allow the 10th-most fantasy points per game to opposing receivers though, and that factors in that the team has faced the Panthers, Giants, Jets and Saints over the last four games. Miami has held all those teams under 200 passing yards, but...well, it's been an easy stretch and Ryan Tannehill is the best QB they've faced in awhile.
Because of this, I'd call NWI a boom/bust option in deep leagues. There's a scenario where he helps you win a fantasy championship. But there are even more scenarios where he does not help you win a fantasy championship.
