Joshua Palmer Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer is back at practice after missing five games with a knee injury. His 21-day activation window to return from the IR has been opened.
That doesn't necessarily mean that Palmer will suit up this Sunday against the Broncos, but it remains a possibility. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on the news out of Los Angeles surrounding Palmer as the week progresses, as it's definitely possible he will be activated off the IR ahead of Sunday's game.
Palmer has caught 23 passes for 377 yards and a touchdown through seven games this season. With Palmer sidelined, the Chargers have struggled to find production at wide receiver apart from Keenan Allen.
Joshua Palmer Fantasy Football Outlook
While it's unclear exactly when Joshua Palmer will return, he should be a solid flex option in fantasy leagues once he's back on an NFL field.
Palmer's career splits with Mike Williams in and out of the lineup are especially notable. Since joining the Chargers, Palmer has played in 31 games with Williams and nine without him. In the games with Williams in the lineup, Palmer averages 7.08 PPR points per game. In the nine without him, he averages 12.14 PPR points per game.
Considering the struggles of rookie wide receiver Quentin Johnston this season—he's averaged just 25.6 receiving yards per game in the five games that Palmer has missed—we should see Palmer take on a sizable role for the Chargers once he's back.
