Wide receiver Josh Reynolds has made his presence for the Detroit Lions in the 2023 NFL playoffs. He had five receptions for 80 yards in the Wild Card Round against his former team, the Los Angeles Rams.
A week later, he caught one of Jared Goff's touchdown throws against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Divisional Round. That catch helped the Lions advance to the NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers.
With the Lions going on the road, they will need their players performing at their best to reach Super Bowl LVIII. While Reynolds isn't the first option in the passing game, his contributions will help the Lions defeat the best team in their conference all season.
Josh Reynolds Injury Update for the NFC Championship Game
Reynolds appears on the Detroit Lions' official report due to an injury on his ribs. The exact instance by which he incurred that injury is unknown.
However, it should be comforting for Lions fans to know he fully participated during their Friday practice before the NFC title game. That's a good indication that he is ready to play on Sunday, especially when the team didn't specify his game status. Reynolds was a limited participant during Wednesday and Thursday scrimmages.
Josh Reynolds will play an essential role for the Lions because the 49ers are expected to put additional attention to All-Pro wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown. Likewise, Kalif Raymond won't play due to a knee injury, while All-Pro tight end Sam LaPorta is still nursing a hyperextended knee.
Therefore, he must make plays when needed to keep their drives going, putting them in better scoring positions.
Reynolds and Goff were teammates in the 2018 Rams team that reached Super Bowl LIII. Half a decade later, they can bring the same glory to a long-suffering team and fanbase. The city's football agony should motivate the injured Reynolds to put everything on the line.
