After a fairly successful season last year, the Indianapolis Colts had a stellar draft, as they drafted two great players, Laiatu Latu, and Adonai Mitchell, in the first two rounds of the draft. Projected to be a first-round pick, Mitchell slipped in the draft due to reported character concerns, but the Colts didn't pass on him and drafted the Texas product with the 52nd overall pick.
Mitchell joins Michael Pittman Jr. and last year's third-round pick, Josh Downs, in the Colts' wide receiver room. Despite an injury to starting quarterback Anthony Richardson, Downs had a great rookie season and put up good numbers.
Will Downs still be the Colts' WR2 in 2024 despite Mitchell's arrival? Let's take a look at the AFC South franchise's depth chart based on everything that has transpired in the offseason so far.

Who is the Indianapolis Colts ' WR2?
Adonai Mitchell will start the season as WR3 for the Colts. At the start of the season, Pittman and Downs will see more action than the rookie wideout, but things could change further into the season.
Mitchell has all the talent to succeed in the NFL and has a chip on his shoulder to prove his critics wrong. During his last year at Texas, the 21-year-old wide receiver had 55 receptions for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns.
With Richardson back healthy, the entire Colts' offense is expected to play better than last year. Pittman Jr. is coming off the best season of his career and recently signed a three-year, $70 million deal. Downs, on the other hand, had 68 receptions for 771 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games during his rookie season. He averaged 11.3 yards per reception last year and will be featured much more this year. Since the Colts' have a talented group of players, everyone will feed off each other and put up good numbers, barring any injuries.
As of now, the Colts' wide receivers' depth chart looks like this:
- WR1: Michael Pittman Jr.
- WR2: Josh Downs
- WR3: Adonai Mitchell
- WR4: Alec Pierce
Together, Mitchell (4.34 40-yard dash time) and Downs (4.48 40-yard dash time) could form one of the fastest wide receiver duos to compliment Pittman, and it will be terrorizing for the opposition defense.
