Barring an injury, Josh Allen should finish as a top-five fantasy football quarterback in 2024. It's been one of the safest bets in the game we agonize over.
But is he the bonafide, locked-and-loaded QB1? There are some concerns.
Below, we look at Allen's history and which other quarterbacks could take the mantle as the best quarterback in fantasy football.

Josh Allen Fantasy Football Outlook
Josh Allen finished as the QB1 in three of the last four seasons, only failing to claim that title in 2022. In that season, he scored more points than he did in 2023. Patrick Mahomes just strung together an absurd scoring stretch.
2020 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 |
Josh Allen (405.1) | Josh Allen (417.6) | Patrick Mahomes (428.4) | Josh Allen (410.6) |
Kyler Murray (390.7) | Justin Herbert (395.8) | Josh Allen (412.2) | Jalen Hurts (371.8) |
This time, he'll have to do it without the services of former All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs and serviceable starter Gabe Davis. We don't know who his top wide receiver will be. Curtis Samuel and early second-round pick Keon Coleman should join Khalil Shakir in the starting lineup. We're just one season removed from witnessing Mahomes struggle when he lacked wide receiver talent.
Allen still possesses rushing upside, unlike many other signal callers in the NFL. Fifteen rushing touchdowns in 2023 propelled the Bills’ quarterback to the top spot, his total only rivaled by Jalen Hurts. Possibly listening to his coaches and body, Allen carried the ball less, leading to approximately 240 fewer yards than he did in 2021 and 2022. It could be difficult to match his rushing touchdown total on fewer carries again.
Is Josh Allen Still The No. 1 Quarterback In Fantasy Football?
Similar to 2023, there's a tier of three quarterbacks at the top of ADP: Allen, Mahomes, and Hurts. Depending on who you ask, there's a different name atop the rankings.

Personally, Jalen Hurts is the top quarterback to draft in 2024. He's in a new offense with Kellen Moore calling plays. Both Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert had great success playing for Moore, plus the Eagles may roster the best receiving duo (A.J. Brown & DeVonta Smith) in the NFL. Allen doesn't have that luxury.
Would fantasy managers be faulted if they prefer Allen and select him first? No, the difference is marginal, and Allen has proven it season after season. Just be wary of the concerns, and, whatever you do, don't select Allen in the first round.
