Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (hand) was the overall QB1 in 2023 and QB2 in 2024, and he showed no signs of slowing down in Sunday's Week 1 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, scoring 4 total touchdowns and over 30 fantasy points.
Unfortunately, Allen picked up an injury in the game on a leaping TD run, and his status is worth being monitored heading into Week 2.
Will Josh Allen play in week 2? What are the details of his injury? Let's break it all down.

Josh Allen Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Josh Allen injured his left hand when he hurdled for a touchdown into the endzone. He leaped into the air and fell on his left hand after he placed it under his elbow. As you can see from the video, a significant amount of weight slammed downwards through his elbow into the hand.
#Bills QB Josh Allen L hand injury.
1st clip cradles the ball, L hand gets smashed by R elbow coming down. Had it taped up on sidelines to control swelling.
Needed x-rays after game. Likely contusion, small chance for fracture, more worried about gripping for running/handoffs. pic.twitter.com/n1mF66SjY2

The good news is that Allen stated that he was "fine." This is especially important for Allen owners because the Bills play again on Thursday, so Allen will be missing three extra days to recover that he would normally have if the Bills weren't on a short week.

Little shaky but you can see it wrapped/taped up as he walks off the field

Josh Allen Fantasy Football Outlook
Allen is the undisputed QB1, and he did nothing to change that notion. This doesn't appear to be a major injury as Allen finished the game. He's still a smash start in every league and there's no reason to bench him. His injury shouldn't affect his production much, as it's on his non-throwing hand.
Allen should be able to change his play style slightly to avoid further injury to his hand, getting it out of the way on dives and changing the way he holds the football when running. It is unlikely to affect his throwing. There's not much reason for worry from what we know.
Allen received X-rays after the game, so we'll likely receive more updates in the coming days, but it would be a surprise if the injury turned out to be major. Even if it was, Allen could likely play with some kind of wrap and glove to protect the hand, and take extra precautions when running.
Allen is still a smash start in every league when he steps on the field. Keep him in your starting lineups.
